The Executive Women in Government meet with Sammie Award Finalists

Washington, DC (8/5/2021):

The Executive Women in Government held a meet and greet at the City Club in Washington DC to congratulate the 2021 Sammie Award finalists for their notable accomplishments in government.

Each year since 2001, the Partnership for Public Service presents the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals—known to many as the Sammies—to recognize unsung heroes in our federal government who have made important contributions to the health, safety and prosperity of our country. The Sammies are the premier celebration of our nation’s outstanding federal workforce. They seek to inspire other talented and dedicated Americans to serve and to change how the public perceives the role of government in America. More than 600 public servants have been recognized as Sammies finalists since the program began. The Sammies, known as the “Oscars” of government service, are a highly respected honor with a rigorous selection process. Named for the Partnership for Public Service’s late founder who was inspired by President Kennedy’s call to serve in 1963, these awards align with his vision of a dynamic and innovative federal workforce that meets the needs of the American people.

This year’s Sammies finalists were announced in May, during Public Service Recognition Week, and were personally commended by President Biden. The winners will be announced at a gala in October. 2021 has the most diverse group of finalists today.
