There are approximately 7,200 Career Service Senior Executive (SES) Positions in the federal government. There are roughly 161,000 GS-14, GS-15 employees and recently retired senior military officers who are currently eligible to apply to SES Positions.
There is no consistency across federal service in how agencies provide assistance to candidates who aspire to the Senior Executive Service.
