EWG Advocacy Campaign and Survey (Input requested from members)

Thanks again to all who were able to attend our session at the end of August for our first discussion on an EWG Advocacy Campaign! As we noted, we expect to have a series of working sessions to think through a campaign that will elevate EWG’s profile, enabling EWG to be, once again, an expert voice sought out by Congress, the Administration, and others with the power to implement change.

Barbara Franklin, and the other founding members of Executive Women in Government, came to the organization after having spearheaded administration efforts to bring more qualified women into high-level, Government policy-making positions. To make the kind of change they were tasked with, they needed to not only develop and create the right policy, training, and procedures but also to strategically communicate their goals to the right decision-makers, what they needed, and their progress. They needed to be seen as the experts in this arena. Sought out for comment on legislation, for their views on a range of actions – from changes to statute to agency-level activities and programs. To advocate on behalf of what works, and what is needed.

In August, we had our first discussion to discuss a new advocacy agenda specifically focusing on who we wanted to influence, and what types of activity we’d want to undertake to be seen—the how. These activities are expected to be in addition to, and complementary of, EWG programming, mentoring, and networking for our members.

We are now seeking your input on topics that we’d want to see EWG advocate for (the what!) in 2022.

Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts with us through our survey. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/EWGAdvocacySurvey

We will plan to hold a facilitated virtual session in January, based on the combination of the online member survey and the market survey results, to continue our work and discussion.

Thank you again for your interest and support.

Connie LaRossa (Chair, Advocacy), Patty Cogswell (EWG VP)
