Kimberly Nevels serves as HUD’s Chief Diversity Officer sitting in the Office of the Chief Human Capital Office, where she and her team are working on spreading the principles of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) throughout HUD.
Prior to joining OCHCO, Kim was with the Office of Field Policy & Management where she served as the first national Director of Equity. She began her HUD career in the civil rights division, the Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO) where she served in various positions for 21 years. Kim earned her B.A. from Illinois Wesleyan University and her J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law.
She’s been married for 25 years, has 2 teenagers and 1 fur baby. In her spare time Kim enjoys reading, watching tv and movies (even though the book is usually better) and traveling.
